| HISTORY |

<zoom> |
| The Château LE CAILLOU wine belonged
to the Bélivier de Pomerol family for more than a century,
they then gave it over to the Giraud Lucien family in 1975. Its name
comes from title of the vineyard land indicated on the cadastre. It
encompasses the Lacombe Estate and the Lacombe Vineyard. Today, Mr.
Giraud André manages the Family Estate. |
| VINEYARD |
| IIt spans 7 hectors and has the Pomerol
appellation. |
| GRAPES |
| Fine grapes with a predominance of Merlot
(75%) and 25% Cabernet Franc. The average vine age is 30. |
| PRODUCTION |

<zoom>
|
| After an optimal maturation period, the
local inhabitants pick the grapes by hand. Depending upon the year,
the grapes are macerated for 3 to 4 weeks so as to extract the most
tannin as possible. Fermentation is done in traditional vats. 2/3
of the wine is then aged in oak barrels while the remaining 1/3 is
aged in cement vats with a 3 month rotation that corresponds with
the extraction process. The vintage is then brought together before
bottling. The wine making process is supervised by Mr. Gilles Pauquet,
oenologist. |
